The deep tunnel of the Prince Friedrich mine.

The Prince Friedrich mine was located in the Obersdorf district of Wilnsdorf in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district.

The passage means of the pit were:

  • Prince Friedrich: The corridor was 425 m long and up to 1 m thick, but largely undeveloped.

  • Pickhardt Gang: The corridor of the consolidated Pickhardt mine was 330 m long and 1.3 m thick.

  • Blauer Hessel: The corridor was 178 m long and only partially worth building. The deep Pickhardt gallery in the Leimbachtal and a wing location in the Tiefen Silberqueller Erbstollen in the Obersdorftal served as tunnels. In 1848 the mine consolidated with hand ax and first luck, in 1878 the consolidation with Pickhardt followed. The company was later bought up by the nearby Ant mine. Civil engineering was carried out in the 88 m deep Blaue Hessel shaft. In 1872 the largest production was achieved with 3,145 t of iron stone. In 1903 the company was stopped.

Search for minerals on the upper dump of the Prince Friedrich mine. Here, mainly ore minerals such as galena, tetrahedrite, alloklas and, more rarely, whiff cornite were found in the siderite and quartz glands.

A cross-section of the Pingen heap. You can see the quartz brown iron stone very nicely, which is embedded in a layer approx. 40 cm deep under the sward.
